Called #TrumpTaxScam, this budget resolution has now passed by the Senate and is headed to the House, and it does everything we knew this president would want to do —tax breaks to the 1% paid for by the working people around America, including massive cuts to Medicaid. This thing is on a fast track, with a House vote expected later this week, a mark up in early November, with plans for final passage before Thanksgiving. We will tell our Members that just voting NO on this thing isn’t enough. They have to speak loudly, lobby their GOP colleagues to put Americans before this president, and make passage of this thing an assault on American values. We will also do our part, calling Members of Congress around the country to let them know we’re watching and that they cannot sell out Americans without consequences.

Zombie Health Care. It’s back. This time it’s the Murphy/Alexander deal in the Senate, which Trump supported, until he didn’t, and until he asked for more before he’d actually support it. This is a bipartisan deal that puts some stability into the marketplace for people right now. Once again, this president is playing politics with Americans’ lives, and we expect our MOCs to call BS on it and be loud voices in the support of health care and this compromise. Also, while we’re at it - Trump’s misinformation campaign on the ACA, the website “maintenance,” and all the other dastardly deeds this admin is doing to undermine the ACA — we expect our MOCs to call BS on that too and let Americans know that they can still get insurance and that this administration is playing politics with their lives. (And while we’re talking healthcare, CHIP is still twisting in the wind, with no reauthorization and children facing an end to basic health services. They need to get on that. Now.)

DREAMERS need our help. Let’s fix this, now. These are young people to whom America made a promise, and now this president is reneging on that promise. That’s now who we are. That’s not what we do. We are better than this. Congress has the power to act on this and do something, and we expect them to do it before they come home for Thanksgiving.
