TALKING POINTS :
UPDATE & ACTION: Last week’s health care news was the best we could have hoped for, but it is the first of many, many battles still ahead. So we get back to work!
The House Intelligence Committee Chair (Nunes) showed his bias on the Russia probe when he ran to the White House instead of his colleagues with half-baked information that he then had to back-peddle. Now he’s playing footloose with the hearings and closing the doors when he sees fit. Congressman Schiff is doing a good job pounding on those door and demanding transparency, and he needs our voices of support to keep that pressure on. Call our Members of Congress (Gabbard and Hanabusa) and demand they let it be known they want those hearings to remain open and transparent.
Encourage your friends and family around the country to do likewise, particularly if they are represented by any of the committee members.
Committee Republicans are: Nunes (CA), Conaway (TX), King (NY), LoBiondo (NJ), Rooney (FL), Ros-Lehtinen (FL), Tuner (OH), Wenstrup (OH), Stewart (UT), Crawford (AR), Gowdy (SC), Stefanik (NY), Hurd (TX)
Committee Democrats are: Schiff (CA), Himes (CT), Sewell (AL), Carson (IN), Speier (CA), Quigley (IL), Swalwell (CA), Castro (TX), Heck (WA)
SCOTUS: The GOP is saying they had a great week last week because of the Gorsuch hearings, and confident that he is going to change the future of the Court. Democrats cannot cut any deal with the GOP to allow Gorsuch to get through. We know they don’t hold to their promises, and this nominee is unacceptable. Call your Senators (Schatz & Hirono) and demand that they be active filibuster voices when the nomination gets to the Senate floor. Call Senators in other states where you have interests and demand their participation in the filibuster as well.
FOLLOW THE MONEY! POTUS has spent one out of every three days at a Trump property - Mar-a-Lago, Trump Hotel DC, a couple of golf courses — bringing it media attention and spending US taxpayer dollars that end up back in the Trump pockets. His daughter now has an office in the White House while still promoting her business interests. This administration is pillaging the US Treasury coffers to their personal financial gain. He has not divested himself and he’s not working for the US people. Let’s let our members of Congress know that we’re watching this, we see the money flowing out of the Treasury and into Trump pockets, and we’re mad as hell. We expect our Members of Congress to do everything they can to bring attention to this malfeasance, require transparency in these expenditures, and stop using our tax dollars for their personal gain.
