Why is it the Russians have heard Jared’s voice and Americans haven’t? We’ve literally never heard him speak. It’s time to change that. We want to hear from him and we want our delegation to demand he come forward ASAP. Not in written statements and through his lawyers, but him, testifying before Congressional committees - NOW.

Just look at the many, many, many unfilled positions in the US government. There’s no head of FEMA or NOAA and hurricane season is upon us. There’s no Surgeon General, no one in charge of food safety at the Department of Agriculture, and no TSA Administrator. The only person in charge at Dept of Education is DeVos, leaving her to wreak havoc on education without others watching out for our students.

No one heads the National Park Service or the Fish and Wildlife Service. These are just a few of the critical positions left vacant, with civil servants trying their best to hold down the fort.

While no one is particularly excited about a government filled with Trump people, the fact that they aren’t nominating anyone for these positions sends a loud and frightening message: these are the positions that look out for the health, safety, and well-being of Americans, and he clearly doesn’t make that a priority. At all. He’s been quick to fill the positions that can benefit his business dealings and that of his friends, but seems to have forgotten about everyone else. We demand that our delegation call out the administration and their GOP colleagues for this gross negligence. American lives are at stake, and Trump and his cronies are too busy filling their coffers to care.

It’s time for the Senate to deliver on its promise that this bill is dead-on-arrival. And it’s time for Democrats to put forward workable solutions that Americans can support. There’s a huge vacuum open right now on this issue. Obamacare is more popular than ever, and TrumpCare is feared by the majority of Americans. Don’t wait for the GOP to push their disastrous proposals. Put a real proposal together and give Americans something to support!

Hawaii is doing the right thing, along with Boston, Pittsburgh, California, and many other cities and states around the country. Our delegation needs to make sure our local leadership understands the importance of our stance on these issues and we expect their voices to be loud and powerful in support of the environmental initiatives expected under the Paris Agreement.
