TALKING POINTS :
This week is a district work period again. Hanabusa and Schatz are both in town. Hirono stayed back in DC to recover, and no word from Gabbard’s office regarding her status this week. Hanabusa plans to meet with our group, and Schatz is a strong maybe. Let’s turn out in numbers at both spots to make sure they hear us!
1- RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA
We expect our delegation to continue to push investigations on all fronts - the two Congressional committees, the Mueller investigation, and to advocate for a special commission (similar to the 9/11 commission.) The American people deserve to know what our government is doing, and who’s covering up what. I know it feels like a broken record, but that’s what the Trump folks are betting on - that we’ll get tired and move along. We won’t, and we won’t let our delegation give up on it either!
2- PARIS ACCORD & CLIMATE CHANGE
The world is getting tired of our flip-flopping on climate change. We signed on to the Paris Agreement and now we have to make good on that commitment. Our delegation needs to let the WH know in no uncertain terms that reneging on that agreement will cost dearly - politically, globally, and on policy fronts. We know they’ll say it’s in POTUS’s hands, but we vote for these guys and we expect them to do their job - even when it’s hard. Stand up to this White House and demand they do the right thing - for the planet, for America, and for future generations.
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE BALL
While tweets abound and scandals erupt, this WH is still trying to push a cruel budget, a health care disaster, a take-down of the internet as we know it, an immigration policy that’s disgusting, an unraveling of government based data, and so much more. We want them to stand tall and say NO to this administration’s cruelty, and to call it what it is.
On all these issues, we know Dems are in the minority, but we still expect them to fight and to find allies. Governing isn’t easy, but it’s the job they signed up for. We’ve got their backs. Now we expect them to do their jobs!
