FREEDOM OF SPEECH + FUNDING FOR THE ARTS IS UNDER ATTACK!
Join us on July 1 for a participatory art event featuring objects and wearable art that has been produced by Hawai‘i J20+ for performances, marches, and other political actions conducted around Honolulu since January 20 / Inauguration Day. Exercise your first amendment rights... also, let's party the house down!
FREEDOM TO MAKE NOISE
Drummer Big Dave Randall will be leading group drumming with makeshift drums made of plastic buckets, tins, pots, and pans, collectively creating a beautiful percussion with recycled materials. All are welcome to participate and no experience necessary! Let Big Dave lead the way! Communal music can be made with anything and freedom of speech can take the form of a sick beat.
808, WHAT'S YOUR SIGN
Crowd sourced images will be projected onto recycled banners from the Honolulu Biennial. We will have a large projector being fed images of homemade protest signs from around Hawaii sent to the #808whatsyoursign. This activity showcases creative output from across the community.
WEAR YOUR SPEECH
A wild wearable art catwalk will showcase costumes created by Hawaii J20+ - featuring performance artists from the community. Visitors may join in and adorn their selves and take advantage of the unusual photo op.
