TALKING POINTS :

- Trump's pardon of Joe Arpaio confirms what we've known for months - Trump is a bigot who opposes diversity and immigration, and blatantly exposed his complete contempt for the US Constitution. It is not unprecedented for Congress to scrutinize presidential pardons and this one needs such scrutiny ASAP. We will ask all four MOCs to demand that the appropriate committees in both bodies hold hearings to determine the efficacy and impact of this pardon, and do it now.

- Sam Clovis is wildly unqualified for the chief scientist position at the USDA. His hostility for scientific research is well documented and his scientific qualifications are non existent. We will let our two senators know that we expect them to be vocal and persistent in their opposition to this gross attempt to stack the administration's deck with hate-filled bigots who don't give a damn about science and the people this government is sworn to protect.

- We've been talking for months about the need for a strategy and a proactive agenda. Sen. Schatz put muscle behind that notion this month when he announced his plan to introduce a bill making Medicaid available to all. First, we thank him. Then we ask how we can help. And then we tell him and the rest of our delegation we expect to see a lot more work like this. NO is a start, but it's not the end-game. We expect our delegation to step up and be the legislative body and the architects of a vision for a better America.

- Lastly, Trump is clearly unfit for office. There is consensus across the political spectrum. Congress is one of the only avenues to address this critical issue. What are they going to do and when?
